Sustainabilty at Saint Lawrence

Saint Lawrence Sustainable Vision for our Future School July 2025

Our school will be a peaceful, safe sanctuary bursting with life and growth. A school which nurtures our senses so we thrive in curiosity and wonder. Time to reflect and appreciate the gifts we have been given and choices we have, will lead us to use only what we really need, while caring for and using our resources for longer.

Learners will bloom in our outdoor environment empowered to be agents for positive change, teaching their families and the wider community how to care for God’s world while reducing carbon footprints now and for generations to come. Sustainable transport choices by increasing walking and bike use, will enable cleaner air for us all. Our heart for the earth will ensure reduced energy use, while capturing energy from the sun through our own solar panels.

Our school will be a beacon of hope for a sustainable future. It will be a happy, fun, biodiverse rainbow of harmony. It will be a place for nurturing and growing young minds alongside harvesting sustainable crops. We will be one giant, outward looking St Lawrence ecosystem - welcoming a diversity of people, plants and species big and small. We want our children and community to live and thrive....not just to live to survive.

Our Class Vision Statements for Sustainability

Our pupils are the stewards of our future world, and have worked hard to vision what they would like for our future school. Having ownership, an active say and opportunities to make their vision a reality is at the heart of all we strive to achieve. As they do this, we hope to embed important skills they can further develop in their future lives.

Our Midday Team say

I love looking after the indoor plants in our school. My house is full of rescued plants that need some extra care. I hope that school will soon be the same! Plants help to keep the air clean and caring for them teaches us how things grow and thrive through meeting our  basic needs. They create a beautiful, welcoming and calm environment for us to enjoy.

Our Governors say

As a both a Governor and a classroom helper, I’m lucky to be able to see the strategic planning around sustainability become action.  It’s all enthusiastically led by the children’s own brilliant ideas.

The children definitely grasp every opportunity to make their school a better and more sustainable place to learn and play, and it’s inspiring to see them making such a difference.

Our Parents say

When we teach children to care for the planet, we plant the seeds of responsibility, hope, and resilience — nurturing a future where sustainability is second nature.

My child  has also really engaged in eco warriors at home and is happy to tell people the importance of being an 'eco warrior'.
