Woodpeckers

Year 4

Welcome to the Woodpeckers’ Class page. We are a class family that love to laugh, love to learn and love to be a team together.

In the Woodpeckers, we believe that learning should be fun and curiosity is encouraged. We are proud to shine and we love sharing our learning with our peers.

We are supported by a brilliant staff team, who are passionate about learning and encourage us to be the best that we can be.

We are now more independent learners, but still understand the importance of pulling together as a team.

The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go. Dr Seuss.

We are extremely lucky to have a wonderful selection of books on our shelves by a range of authors. We love to read and completely immerse ourselves in a book. We know that reading opens up endless possibilities to be successful in our futures.

We love to solve challenges in maths, approaching them with resilience, confidence and enthusiasm. Throughout the year, we become speedy at recalling our times tables, using lots of exciting resources and doing fun activities. We know that a secure knowledge of multiplication tables is really important for our future success in maths.

During the year, we cover a range of exciting learning journeys. We learn about the plants and animals in our fascinating world. We also go back in time and learn about Anglo Saxon and Viking settlements. From this, we have an exciting opportunity to visit The Collection Museum to bring our learning to life. We explore the concept of sound in our learning journey ‘Lights, Camera, Action’ and finish the year being holiday planners, comparing The Lake District with The French Alps. To find out more about these, you can look at our Knowledge Organisers below.

We thrive on being vocabulary ninjas and love to investigate new words that we come across and use them into our wonderful writing. We value sharing and welcome opportunities for children to be proud to shine and share their learning with their peers.

We are a fun-loving class and we don’t take ourselves too seriously; however, we don’t shy away from hard work either! We lift each other up as a team and always try our hardest.
