Our planned ‘Learning Journeys’ are rich and stimulating. They use lots of enquiry and first-hand experiences which foster a sense of curiosity. We believe that the opportunity to enrich these experiences, through the inclusion of visits outside of school, is something we want to include for all of our children. As a result, we plan that each class, from Year 1 upwards, will have at least two trips out every year. We also have a range of visitors coming into school. Throughout the year, you may see children out and about exploring our local environment, visiting museums or venues or even measuring the speed of river-flow! All of these visits are intended to support and stimulate further learning back in the classroom. 

Our Year 4 pupils are able to take part in a local residential visit to Rand Farm. The two-day experience is wonderful and the children have many different opportunities while they are there, including working with the animals, although the experience of staying away from home is the key part of this opportunity. This forms part of their learning in the summer term of Year 4. Our Year 5 pupils tend to travel further afield for their visits, in readiness for the residential in Year 6.  The Owls have the opportunity to take part in a residential visit in the Summer Term. This is a three night stay, where the children complete many exciting challenges from our base in a centre in Castleton, Derbyshire.

The Governors believe school visits to be valuable, interesting and worthwhile, and therefore we will continue to organise quality experiences. In order to make this work, we have to ask for voluntary contributions from parents to cover the costs. Unfortunately, if there are insufficient parental contributions to cover the cost of a visit then it may not be able to take place. See our Policies section to read the Charging for School Activities Policy.  Monies for these visits are given to school via bank BACS transfer. Some parents take the opportunity to spread payments over a period of time.
