Volunteers

We’re forever grateful for the small army of volunteers who contribute so much to our lovely school. To name but a few, we have generous volunteers making up our Governing Body, listening to the children read, tending the grounds, helping in school, stepping in where there’s a need and generally being all-round heroes. You know who you are and we salute you.

Skellingthorpe and Saint Lawrence School hold a special place in people’s hearts which causes them to nurture that bond; it’s particularly lovely when former pupils are proud to tell us they attended here and enjoy the opportunities to come to school events such as the May Day dances.

Authorised Volunteer Helpers

These are a group who can give a regular (weekly) commitment. They help in school (class-based or otherwise) at the instruction of staff members. To be an Authorised Volunteer Helper, you will need to go through an enhanced DBS clearance process. Please speak to someone in the office who will happily help you with anything you need.

As an Authorised Volunteer Helper, you will be supporting our school family by working within one of the classes in the school.  The types of activities may include: reading; playing table-top games with groups of children; helping with art learning; cooking; sewing; and general classroom support.  Remember, this does not necessarily mean that YOU have to be the expert, we love all learning together.
